No place for error
The routes on the Reissend Nollen have very little in common with classic freeriding. The terrain is consistently steep, interspersed with rocks, and demands confident technique as well as sound experience in high-alpine terrain.
Alongside the avalanche risk on the steep northern slopes, the permanent danger of falling plays a central role above all. Many lines can only be skied safely in excellent conditions. Hard or wind-packed snow conditions can quickly turn the descents into a serious alpine undertaking.
In good conditions, the Reissend Nollen offers some of the most impressive freeride lines in the entire Titlis area.

Routes on the Reissend Nollen
Steinberg
Several routes lead back through the Steinberg towards Trübsee. The choice of line can vary greatly depending on the conditions.
Never Sun
A steep and popular variation directly after the traverse. The start is at the beginning of the so-called knife-edge.

Knife
The short walk up the ridge on foot is not technically difficult, but can be exposed.
In difficult conditions, belaying can be done from an existing pole.

Aspirin
Right at the abseil point of the circular tour is the entrance to the northern descent.
A steep, short exit couloir forms the conclusion of this variant.

Ponstan 500
Accessible via a short walk uphill.
The striking ramp offers various exits and is counted among the most beautiful lines on the Reissend Nollen.

Direttissima
The most direct and arguably most spectacular line on the Reissend Nollen.
Following a lengthy alpine approach, the route leads through impressive steep terrain down into the valley.

Classic promotion
The classic ski tour leads from the Jochstock to the main summit of the Reissend Nollen.
The descent then takes place along the ascent route.

The Reissend Nollen is one of the most demanding freeride areas around Engelberg. Good snow conditions are more important here than almost anywhere else in the resort.
Anyone unfamiliar with the lines should study the entry and exit points carefully beforehand or go with a local mountain guide.
