You know the descent. What is new is the two board halves under the feet, the fur and the many small handholds when changing. In the Splitboard Basic Camp you learn these procedures in a group with the same sports equipment. Riding technique, tour planning and avalanche knowledge are just as important as ascent.

In the Engelberg Valley, short practice sessions and proper tours can be combined well. You therefore do not have to stay on the same slope all day. At the same time, we choose terrain where there is enough time left for technique and learning.

Program & Learning Objectives

That's how we get around.

Setup and movement

We examine the board, bindings, skins, and crampons. On a suitable tour, you practice track selection, turns, rhythm, and a coordinated transition.

Understanding and rescuing snow

We discuss the planning with a map and avalanche bulletin. Practical exercises with LVS, probe and shovel help organize tasks in an emergency.

The prepared tour

You participate in the planning and implement it under guidance. Difficulty and any rope exercises are adapted to the group.

You take that with you

Lose less energy during ascent and when changing direction
Understand your own setup
Evaluate tour ideas based on skill and conditions

The terrain and route are adapted to the weather, conditions, and group. The mentioned summits and descents are possible destinations.

Which level is suitable?

MILD

SPICY

You should definitely be able to snowboard, control black slopes, and have some experience in deep snow. Splitboard skills are not necessary for the beginner group. However, the Basic Camp is not a snowboarding beginner course.

Write me your last tours and your learning goal. This allows for a better assessment of your suitability than with a single level alone.

Start well prepared

In front of the camp.

Check the harness, binding, and footwear in a timely manner. Personal safety equipment includes a life jacket, probe, and shovel; alpine camping requires the materials listed in the packing list. Check the compatibility of boots and crampons beforehand.
