Starting point and entrance
The tour map shows the access from the Fürenalpbahn via Hofad to the entrance of the old NE-line.
Route description
First, there are steep, exposed bands. On the east side, you climb over slabs and steeper slopes to the north ridge. Over the intermittently fragile ridge, you reach the glacier. With sufficient reserves, you can continue to the Gross Titlis.
Takeoff, flight and landing
Starting points are described on the glacier. The direct north face with 5c+ is a more demanding climbing option and should not be compared to the old route.
Safety and conditions
T6 terrain, climbing routes up to IV, exposed bands and brittle rock characterize this alpine tour. The topo maps show old route and direct north edge separated.
Check the weather, wind, thermals, current airspace, and temporary restrictions before the tour. Ensure start and landing options as well as the return route in case you cannot fly. The maps show the route; local signs and current area information should be checked before the flight.
