Surenenpass with the bike
A long and demanding bike tour from Engelberg via the Surenenpass. The ascent includes downhill and uphill sections; the descent to Uri is technically demanding and requires a lot of experience.

Tour description
To the Suren Valley
From Engelberg, the route leads past waterfalls and mountain restaurants into the Surenental valley. The Fürena cable car allows you to bypass the first few meters of elevation gain.
On the Suronen Pass
The upper ascent is steep and technically demanding. The bike has to be pushed or carried repeatedly. Weather and time must be right.
Departure to Uri
The long descent is challenging and in places exposed or loose. Only drive with good driving technique; after that, return by public transport.

Can I use the funicular railway?
Yes. This makes it possible to avoid the first high altitudes. The further ascent remains challenging.
Is the tour signposted?
The pass route is known, but a map or GPS are still required.
Suitable for e-bikes?
A heavy e-bike is impractical in the carrying stages. The tour is only conditionally suitable for this.
