From the starting point to the destination
Route description
Bannalp – Schwarzgraben
Starting at the mountain station of the Bannalpbahn through the area of the Urnerstafel towards Schwarzgraben. Follow the line to Laucherenstock on the shared map of the area; Chaiserstuel and Ruchstock are also marked next to it.
In the cauldron under the summit
Climb up through the channels in the cauldron north of the Laucherenstock. Above approximately 2400 m, the rock bands come closer together. Choose the appropriate passage based on the snow conditions.
Through the summit construction
The steeper, rocky sections to the summit. Hard snow conditions or little snow may require some effort. Evaluate ascent and subsequent return journey together.
The return is part of the tour
Descent and variants
The return journey along the ascent is the basic option. The lake view offers an additional route towards the Bannalpsee under suitable conditions. A continuation to Oberrickenbach depends on sufficient snow and a usable exit route.
What matters
Key points and planning
The key points are located in the upper, rocky terrain. Safe turns, reliable ski control, and a forward-thinking line choice are necessary. The steeper Seehang variant should be evaluated separately.
Check the avalanche bulletin and weather forecast for the relevant elevations and aspects. Plan your timing around snow conditions, warming and lift operating hours. Existing tracks do not replace your own assessment.
Appropriate to the route and the conditions

Frequently asked questions
Is the Lake Hang the only descent?
The main route can be followed along the ascent. The Lake Hang is an additional route with its own assessment.
Can I leave from Oberrickenbach?
A descent needs sufficient snow even in the lower sections. The approximately 950 meters of elevation gain on the main route relate to the return to the Bannalp.
